Nearing the End

What another beautiful day in Hanoi. Today was our last day of formal teaching in classrooms. Tomorrow is our closing ceremony, Thursday; we will head off to Ha Long bay for two days. Saturday, is our packing day, and Sunday, we will pack and move into a hotel, where we will spend the day debriefing. Monday, we fly home.

We won’t have much more time to interact with the students, so we have to leave with the faith the God is working in the hearts of these students, and at His own pace. We’ve done our job teaching English, and this last Monday, was our Christmas and Easter culture nights where we shared the story of Christmas and Easter with them. Sharing of the Easter story was direct, not a play or skit but sharing of the message with them. This was the first time I’ve done it this way, and I found it most rewarding. Seeds where scattered, where the fell, be it on hard ground, in creaks, amongst weeds, or in fertile ground is in God’s hands.

The students have fallen in love with us, as we have with them, and as usual, there will be much crying and aching hearts on Monday. But this is a good thing. It speaks to the sharing of spiritual love, the kind of love that comes only from God. Pray for them, pray for there awakening, pray for this spiritually dark country. We are all called in one fashion or another. We have come to this country, suffered the heat, humidity, illnesses, and homes sickness, you can participate by always lifting us up in prayer, and by lifting up the people of this land, and the students we have shared with. As one man said, “They have the divine right to hear the message.” What man, (person), can deny them that?

This morning we had a meeting with the heads of the University and high school. They are supposed to be drawing up proposals, one of which is to offer me a job here in Ha Noi. I need tons of prayer for this, is this what I am called to do? If so, I will live here for at least a year or more.

Humm, that is very interesting about the job offer. Of course, I have no way of knowing what is right for you, Paul. But I will pray that God's message comes thru loud and clear for you so that you will know what to do. I suppose if the money is enought to make your mortgage payment here at home, perhaps that will be reason enuf. That way, Coy could continue with grad school and her real-estate adventure. Thinking of you and Coy, Jennifer
