Come Walk With Us

Greeting fellow travelers,

We are all on journeys, some of us are on a journey together, others, most others, are on a journey alone. While we cannot always go on the same journey, we can share our journeys. We can share them by listening to stories from other travelers, by praying for other travelers, and in other cases, by financially supporting travelers. What’s your current journey?

Over this summer, I’ve learned that my fellow teammates and I were all on our own personal journeys, each being relevant to our personal relationship with God. While in we could not walk the same path with them each step of the way, there were moments were we could come along side of one another and offer support.

My journey was falling in love with Viet Nam and her people. My journey was through a dark place in my heart where I had to face certain facts, facts that I had denied existed. Another area that needed further correction was control. I cannot exercises control over another person. What I mean is this. If I have a teammate that is stepping all over the Vietnamese culturally, I can only bring it to their attention, and if the teammate is in Viet Nam to live as an example of Jesus, than it is up to them to examine their own heart.

Finally, this idea of living as an example of Jesus is very difficult and impossible, but it is the trying that counts. Coy and I both would love to run and hide away. For five months now we have been without an income, and currently there is nothing offering any promise. Our debts are daunting, and we have a septic system that will require tens of thousands of dollars to be properly repaired if not entirely replaced. Now, I have a burden placed upon my heart. I feel that I have a calling to live in either China or Viet Nam, but we cannot see how this is going to happen since we are in such a hole. We realize that nothing is impossible to the Lord, but we are blind. Hebrews 11 states that faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you cannot see.

I ask for your prayers that God will slam shut doors, and fling open others, so that it will be very evident to us. I ask for you to pray that He will provide the answers to our debt, and that He will in fact bless us with a fulltime ministry in Asia. I also would ask that you pray and ask God if you should support us in prayer and financial support. Come on the journey with us as we try to walk this path.
